Movie Review: The Nun

I was really a fan of Conjuring Series so when I heard that another sequel story will be out, I really reserved a date with my movie buddy to watch this film. Before I watched the movie, I already checked all the movie reviews about "The Nun" and I was hesitant to watch since most of the ratings were low. So I decided to ask my workmate who already watched the film and asked his opinion if it is worthy to watch. He told me that the movie had many shocking effects yet it was not really realistic that made it not that scary. However, he would definitely recommend the movie since the story is quite good.

Despite of hesitations, I still watched the movie cause I want to rate it. Well, when I watched the movie, I was quite surprised that it has a little taste of comedy. I don't know why, I just laugh because of the guy character who saw the dead nun outside the convent's house. His character is quite playful that every time I saw the guy character, there is this aura of comedy. Aside from that, the reactions from the crowd affects the mood since some of the reactions were so funny and I can't stop laughing with my friend. Well I don't know if you will have the same experience as mine in the cinema but most probably when I saw some reviews it complements the idea that it is funny that's why it influences my score in thrill category and the others since I wasn't scared that much.

Rate:

Story: 4/5
Acting: 4/5
Thrill: 2/5
Shocking Effect: 3/5
Gore: 1/5
Effects: 3/5
Direction: 3/5
The climax: 3/5
Ending: 3/5
Cinematography: 4/5
Overall Movie: 3/5

However, I really love the cinematography and how the actors portrayed the role which gave justice to the movie. To add up also, I liked this catholic sense of movie which gives added value to the movie. It is not just a scary movie but it will give you a moral lesson. Most especially, I like the part when the nun don't know what to do, she just calm herself and pray so she chose the right thing. Well, just like when we are in the midst of pressuring ourselves to decide something, it is necessary for us to calm ourselves and discern well to find the right choice just like the nun.

Overall, I will still recommend this movie. It is quite disappointing for those who love scary movie since it will not satisfy your expectation yet it will still give you a good lesson. So if you look for a scary movie it is not for you :)

Movie Review: Miss Granny

My highschool friend invited me to watch Miss Granny last August 24, 2018, Friday in SM Megamall. At first, I was hesitant because I am not fond of Sarah G and James Reid. Since my friend really likes James Reid, I wanted to support her. On the other hand, I research it through web and found out that the original was a korean movie. This motivates me more to watch the movie since I am one of those K dramas enthusiast.

This is my over-all rating for the movie

Rate:

Screenplay and dialogues: 3/5
Acting: 4/5
Direction: 4/5
The climax: 4/5
Ending: 3/5
Overall Story: 4/5
Cinematography: 3/5

I wasn't expecting too much from the movie since I am not into romanticity (well I thought at first that it is another filipino romatic movie) yet I really enjoyed it especially how Sarah G. portrayed the role of a granny. Aside from being funny, she moves me especially when she give her blood to save her grandson. I remember my mom , definitely you too if you'll watch, on how willingness they are  to sacrifice just for the sake of their children. If you'd ask me now, I will definitely recommend this movie.
